 2)  Eco-Depot & Shredding – This Saturday, April 27 in Tiverton

The Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (RIRRC) will hold a household hazardous waste collection this Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Tiverton DPW yard, 50 Industrial Way, Tiverton RI (immediately off Rte. 24, Fish Rd exit).

Eco-Depot is the safest option for the disposal of household hazardous waste in Rhode Island.  Some poisonous items cannot be discarded in the trash, such as fluorescent light bulbs, oil-based paints, insecticides, swimming pool chemicals, cleaning supplies, automotive fluids and propane gas tanks. Products that contain warnings such as, “flammable,” “combustible,” “explosive” or “corrosive” are toxic to humans, animals and the environment.

RI Resource Recovery will host a free shredding event during the Tiverton Eco-Depot collection. Residents who want to shred sensitive personal (i.e. not from a business) documents can bring up to two, 22-gallon recycling bins’ worth—free of charge. As a reminder, a sensitive or confidential document is one that contains a unique, identifying number that can be traced directly to a specific person, and which cannot be found readily through public searches. For example, a person’s name and address is not considered sensitive, confidential information.

This special event is available free of charge to Rhode Island residents only. Appointments are not required.
!! Note!! Once the shredding truck is full, we cannot accept further material for shredding. For this reason, shredding services are on a first come/first serve basis.

This program is a free service for all Rhode Island residents, and anyone dropping off hazardous waste needs to make an appointment (call 401 942-1430 x241 or online:

The location is right off Route 24 in Tiverton. The May 18 Eco-Depot is in Bristol and I expect to see more local events scheduled for the fall.

3) Yard Waste
Yard waste service has started, no collection next week as we begin collecting every other week May through October. Weekly collection will start back up with four weeks in November and final week of collection in December.
Please, please, PLEASE, only place material that has grown in your yard out for yard waste collection. Too often, the yard waste truck driver reports lumber, litter and dog waste mixed in with the yard waste.
All of Middletown’s yard waste gets tipped at Rhode Island Nurseries’ facility where it is composted and spread on the fields. When trash is mixed in it litters their fields and surrounding property.

Thank you!
